Tips for safe driving

Everyday we get to read or hear news regarding road rage, road accidents in New Delhi or any other city in the country. Yesterday only, a young man lost his life due to a very minor accident involving two cars. If only we could have the patience while driving and strictly follow traffic rules, such incidents can be reduced to some extent.

Useful tips that one should follow while driving on road.

* The first and foremost is to be patient, extra-cautious while driving on city roads, full of traffic.
* Avoid unnecessary arguments. It's better to say sorry than to fight it out over a minor scratch in the middle of the road.
* Wear Seat belts for added safety.
* Follow traffic rules.
* Give importance to road-signs.
* Lane driving is sane driving. Stick to your lane and avoid changing/jumping lanes unnecessarily.
* Use indicators to change lane.
* Avoid over speeding. It's better to be late by few minutes than never
* Don't honk unnecessarily
* Slow down in front of hospitals, schools and colleges
* Don't stop your vehicle abruptly, slow down before stopping to give enough warning to the vehicles behind you.
* Drive slowly during rain and foggy conditions.
* Be careful while reversing your vehicle, always look for other vehicles in the rear view mirror and then drive slowly.
* While driving at night make sure that head and tail lights are working. Make sure to drive at night with the headlight in low beam to avoid bedazzling of vehicles coming from the opposite direction.
* Maintain distance from other vehicles on road.

Indian Auto Components Industry to grow four fold to $110 billion by 2020

The Indian auto component industry is being estimated to grow to over 5 lakh crore (USD 110 billion) by the year 2020 driven in tandem with the surge in vehicle production in the country. Of this, the domestic turnover is expected to grow to 4 lakh crore (USD 80 billion) and exports scale up to another 1.4 lakh crore (USD 29 billion), according to a report by Automotive Component Manufacturers' Association (ACMA).

As per the report, the auto components industry turnover will cross US $26 billion this year (2010-11) up 18 per cent from US$ 22 billion in the year 2009-10. According to the ACMA-EY (Ernst & Young) Vision 2020 study, India is expected to witness strong growth in vehicle production across all segments by 2020.

Passenger vehicles - projected to be 5 million units by 2015 and over 9 million by 2020.

Commercial vehicles - volumes of over 1.4 million by 2015 and over 2.2 million by 2020. Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV), a relatively new segment, expected to grow 28% annually over the next few years.

Two and three wheelers - expected to double to 22 million units by 2015 and reach 30 million by 2020 driven by low penetration levels, expanding rural sales and growth in exports.

Tractors - projected to be over 0.7 million by 2015 and over 1 million by 2020 with steady growth expected in domestic and export volumes.

Construction equipment - likely to grow 2.5 times to 0.1 million units by 2015 and almost double to 0.18 million by 2020 driven by the infrastructure sector.

Europe is likely to account for 36.9 per cent of India's auto components exports in 2010-11, followed by Asia with 28.1 per cent and North America with 24 per cent. The industry has witnessed a shift in the composition of exports over the years. Investments in the auto components industry are estimated at US$ 12 billion in 2010-11, according to the study.

The auto component industry can thus be an engine of India's economic and manufacturing sector growth, potentially contributing 3.6% of GDP by 2020, up from the current 2.1%. To achieve this potential the auto component industry would require investments of over 1.6 lakh crore (USD 35 billion) during the period. It will also create employment opportunity for over 1 million skilled people.

The Automotive Mission Plan (AMP) 2006-2016 will further fuel the growth in the Indian auto sector and will transform India into a global automotive player. The plan aims to doubling the contribution of automotive sector in GDP and provide additional employment to 25 million people by 2016 with special emphasis on export of small cars, MUVs, two and three wheelers and auto components.

Although there is a huge potential and growth opportunities in the automobile sector, the small enterprises manufacturing automotive components and parts from India are still lagging behind in getting maximum exposure for their products at the global level and build business relationships with foreign buyers.

The Indian SMEs are still not utilizing information technology (IT) as a tool to improve their business prospects at the global level. Most of the small enterprises are unaware of the benefits that information technology and internet can offer.

Such SMEs can get great advertising opportunities on the web at a much lesser cost than the traditional ones. They can easily reach the maximum number of prospective buyers and B2B portals like automobileindustryinda.com can provide them the platform that is needed to build and grow their business at the global level. The need of the hour is to educate such smaller enterprises regarding the usage of Information technology in their businesses.

So, all the Indian manufacturers and suppliers of automotive components who want to capture the huge potential that the automotive components industry offers, can register their companies on automobileindustryindia.com and see their business grow manifold. This portal offers maximum visibility to several products related to automobile industry like auto parts, automotive accessories, auto components, automotive components, engine parts, brake parts et al, alongwith suppliers information, product details, option to send online inquiries and a host of other value added services.

Industry predicts manifold growth for Indian auto components industry

With another five marquee names in the automobile world gearing up to enter India, the second-fastest growing market globally, industry stalwarts are of the opinion that this could be the best time for auto component manufacturers to do brisk business. It may be mentioned here that Chrysler, Kia, Peugeot, Triumph and Scania are finalizing their India blueprint. And the reason is obvious.

According to a report by Ernst & Young, India will beat China, North America and Europe to become the fastest growing automobile market.

Meanwhile according to a report from McKinsey & Co, the Indian automotive aftermarket for parts is expected to reach around Rs 39,000 - 44,000 crore by 2015 from the current Rs 24,000 crore, while the industry would require around 1.3 million skilled people.

The industry representatives meanwhile have asked for 'industry' status for the auto parts sector on the basis of number of jobs the industry created and the volume of revenue it generated for the exchequer.

According to a CII Report prepared by McKinsey & Company, the automotive aftermarket in India is growing 11 percent per year, and is at an inflection point with the increase in vehicle parts, more complex parts, price sensitive customers, and expansion of global suppliers in terms of sourcing and distribution presence in India.

The report estimated that the market demand for parts and services was set to double over the next five years. It said that companies across the value chain will require significant additional investments in capital to double their capacity, as well as to enhance their capabilities to produce parts for and service a wider variety and complexity of vehicles.

The production of parts is split between OEM, original equipment suppliers (OES) and generic manufacturers. Commercial vehicles, which include multi-axle vehicles, light commercial vehicles, buses and trailers account for roughly 22 per cent of this market (Rs 4,500-5,500 crore), with Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Kerala accounting for over 40 per cent.

The car market is estimated at Rs 6,000-7,000 crore (34 percent of the market) with Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Tamil Nadu cumulatively accounting for about 40 per cent of the share.

Meanwhile, industry experts are of the opinion that despite the huge potential that automobile industry offers, both the manufacturers and buyers are unable to connect with each other freely.  Here, Internet can play a vital role. Business to business (B2b) websites like automobileindustryindia.com can be a solution to overcome this problem.

To be a part of the growth story of Indian automobile sector and encash the huge potential that the sector offers, manufacturers and suppliers from India can get themselves registered on automobileindustryindia.com
, a web portal solely dedicated to Indian automobile industry.

The main aim of the portal is to provide maximum exposure to Indian suppliers and bridge the gap that exists between sellers and buyers in Indian and abroad. It also carries comprehensive information on global automobile trade shows and latest news and updates from the automobile industry.
